Profile

Richard Smith Architecture  specializes in library design and consulting, historic preservation and residential design. The founding principals, Richard Smith and Frank Adams , worked together in three previous firms for more than twenty years on a broad range of projects before founding Adams & Smith.

The firm is known for the quality of its library design, both in its effectiveness and efficiency, and in public appreciation for the unique qualities of each completed architectural design. The firm is also known for historic preservation work in institutional contexts and for sensitive renovations and restorations of historic buildings.

Richard Smith Architecture is a small specialty practice doing studies and analyses, architectural services for smaller projects on an independent basis, and larger projects in association with larger firms. Services provided include standard architectural design services, concept development, master planning, library interiors, library planning consulting, programming, and historic preservation consulting.

Our client base  includes libraries in eastern New England, institutional clients, residential clients through referrals, and other architects and engineers seeking specialty consulting or pursuit of projects in associations.
